Our Great Loop Adventure

January 9,2012  This is our first entre and first attempt at a blog. Last April we decided we wanted to do the Great Loop, check it out on the Internet...We spent all summer shopping for a Looper Boat on the Internet.  We read a lot of books since last April, trying to learn s much as possible about this adventure.  In October we attended a Rendezvous of the AGLCA, check it out on the web also,  met some great people and learned even more.  Once in Florida we started checking out boats on our list we found on the internet. We met a great guy in Daytona and he found our boat !!  She is a 38 Ft. P T Trawler, she went promptly to the dry dock for a new bottom and out of water repairs, all part of Rich's good bargaining skills.  We spent 10 days on her before she went in for repairs, and was quite comfortable.  We are presently in Key West as usual, enjoying friends, fishing etc..will go back to the boat in Feb sometime to do more maintenace chores Rich wants to do. We were fortunate to connect with a Great Broker, Surveyor and Captain and Boatyard for repairs.  Our boat Broker is Bill Eve witih the Yacht Brokers at Halifax Harbor Marina in Daytona, FL.  The Surveyor is Scott Grabner, who taught us a lot as he worked. The Lighthouse BoatYard is super, highly recommended and the people are soooo nice. Our son Mike has been up to the boat a lot and keeping an eye on things and working on it also.  Will try and figure out how to add photos to this and will try and keep it up to date.
