July 3rd, Can you believe it has been a month since I got on to this !!   One month ago today we went out into the Atlantic Ocean to get to Atlantic City, N.J.  had to fill the square and walk on the Boardwalk !!  We took a city bus to the Boardwalk and caught a cab going back.  Now we can say been there done that.  The trip in the ocean wasn't bad, we stayed pretty close to shore.  We were with 4 other Looper boats here that we knew and traveled with.  Next we left for Brielle, N.J. We rocked and rolled enroute here but not too bad.  A guy at the Marina took some of us gals to the Market.  Next we were on our way to New York City.  We went to the 9 11 Memorial, had to take a water taxi and then walk alot to buy tickets to get into the Memorial.  The Statue of Liberty really is overwhelming, they were working on her so we could not go in it.  Next we went to Haverstraw Marina, not one of the better Marina's, bad help,  docks were covered with bird poop and could not find a place to stay to go see West Point.  We then anchored near Banner Castle, south of Pollepeli Island, a tall ship came by, so lovely.Next was Kingston,  N.Y., where we went through customs.
We then spent the night at the Caselton Boat Club, walked to do laundry, found a convience store and it was a nice place. It was a windy day all day.  June 13th we left late and went to Lock 8 on the Erie canal. Then about 7 locks later we tied up at an Italian restaurant dock, visited with some locals, really nice people all along the way.  We had our mail forwarded to Rome, N.Y. when we got there we couldn't get to the marina due to a low bridge and shallow water.  We called the Marina and the manager brought our mail to us twice !! We went to see Ft Stanwix, was really well done and interesting.  June 17, we went down a lock for the first time.  Had some work done on the radio, and then moved over to another marina where some of our friends were, great place, loaned us their car and we got a lot of errands done.We then left Brewereton, N.Y. for Oswego, N.Y. going thru the Oswego Canal.  Was a tough locking day I even lost one of our boat hooks.  Friends from our Key West Group  ( Pat & Dick Paradis) came to see us and brought up a bag full of goodies, inc. home made Strawberry Jam she made that morning. We so enjoyed our time with them . We went thru a wonderful Maritime Museum here.Had a diver put new zincs on our props and check out the props.June 21st we entered Lake Ontario, and rock and rolled across. While in Sacket Harbor, Ont. I lost a filling.  We went on to Clayton and found a dentist address, but they did not answer the phone, too busy, leave a message !!  Well we walked towards where people told us it was and no dental office, Rich asked a man if he knew where it was and he got out his maps etc and then said I will take you there so he did, they could not find a spot for me so he took us back to our boat.  In Trenton, I got my filling replaced and think we paid his next Mercedes payment !!  But at least I was able to get this overwith.  We went to the Farmer's Market here and really liked the Marina.  We left Trenton for Lock # 6, where we tied up on the wall and had elec for $9.80 a night, picnic tables big willow tree and just a great place to hole up away from the Canadian's July 1st celebrations. (Their Independence Day). Was a super place, rode our bikes to the market, Mass and I got a hair cut.  Rich fixed a chart table for us by my chair up on the upper helm which is working great.  We stayed there for 5 days and it was terrific. Friends were with us and more arrived and moved on, and met some new Looper friends. Today we went thru 7 Locks, and they were easy locks, in fact one lock opened up right into the next lock.  Saw some Swans today and more lovely flowers everywhere.  Went to the market this evening after eating out with friends to celebrate his birthday. When we tied up a couple came down and said "Remember us ?"  and we did. They followed us across the NY Harbor when their GPS went out, they live about an hour from here and came into town for this town's famous bakery and decided to come down to the Canal to see if anyone was here and here we were !! Tomorrow we will check out the farmers market, the cheese factory and the CHOCOLATE Factory..then probably go on up the Canal to Hastings, Ont CA.  Wish you could see all we are seeing it is sooooo beautiful.Happy 4th of July, wave you flag for us, we have ours out all the time. Will try and work on more photos next wi fi spot,  wi fi in Canada is outrageous...so we look for the free ones !!!
