We arrived in Norfolk, VA in time for AGLCA Rendezvous. 5/6/12 The Marina is full of boats doing the Loop, some Cats, Sailboats and Trawlers. Will take a head count later !! Went to seminars today on areas that are to be ahead of us, good info. Met quite a few people and enjoying ourselves. We went to visit the Nauticus Museum today and the U S S Wisconsin Ship. Yesterday took F.R.E.D. ( an elec car shuttle provided by the city) to a neighborhood conv store for bread /milk, received a great tour of downtown Norfolk from the driver, he picked us up at the Marina, and waited while we dashed in and out of the mkt..Last night I won a door prize, a great book on the Chesapeake & Delaware Bays, which we had just bought, so they swapped it for me for a great book on the Great Lakes. 5/15/12 Now we are in Deltaville, VA, quite a few of the AFLCA boats are here for their special Looper prices. Great place, could stay here a long time. We used their car and made a West Marine run, bought a seat for the upper helm so I can see better and a larger dinghy.
Also made a market stop. Rich replaced the inverter, fixed a battery problem, and other chores. Tomorrow we will head for Onancock, VA and take the ferry to Tangier Island, then later in the week head up the Potomac River. We miss our aviation charts, compared to marine charts !! Onancock, VA is a quaint town about 3 blocks long...wonderful jelly donuts at the bakery, lovely old homes, no new houses have been built here since the 30's, and all look in great shape. Due to weather we are staying another day here in Onancock, VA. There are 4 other Looper boats here and we have enjoyed their company. Town provided a van to take us to Walmart, 1.00 per couple !!
